Biography

Eric Jacobson is a mixed-media sculpture artist from Danville, CA. From an early age, he has enjoyed tinkering and building things and this serves as the influence for his artwork. Eric's artistic style is to blend art with technology and find the intersection of the two through medium and technique.

Eric likes working in all forms of "hard" media and has been exploring woodworking, metalworking (welding and casting), and other forms of sculpture.

Eric combines materials to play off of the contrast in texture, color, and light. The inclusion of LEDs, lights and electric components plays on his interest in all things electronic and the synthesis of the digital and physical worlds.

Eric’s style involves reducing a subject down to its simplest lines, curves and planes to allow the mind to fill in the rest while exploring the resulting negative space. In some cases, this can add lightness to a massive form while still allowing the piece to impose a significant presence.

Eric's recent work has focused on combining digital design and fabrication with traditional sculpture techniques.
